The disease is no longer an obstacle

Lupus touches in nine cases in ten women aged between20 to 40 years. A long time, this disease forbade them any project of pregnancy because estrogen production increased the risk of flares. Today, this danger is under control and it is most often possible to carry a pregnancy provided to plan it within the framework of specialized center. Lupus should indeed be inactive for at least six months to a year before pregnancy.

It also necessary to detect the possible presence of a « antiphospholipid syndrome ». This autoimmune diseases characterized by recurrent formation of blood clots which cause repeated miscarriages, is in deed more common  in people with lupus.

The patient is being monitored during pregnancy to check that it does not become active. Severe renal impairment may however constitute a strong contraindications.
